Building codes and product approvals in these zones are more rigorous than other hurricane-prone areas, requiring products like windows and doors to withstand severe wind loads and projectile impacts from flying debris. Products certified for HVHZ use are considered the most robust and reliable for hurricane protection. Designated for areas where the maximum design wind speed is 140 mph or more.
